Coskata's proprietary bioreactor designs solve the fundamental "mass transfer" engineering challenge. Ground-Breaking Technology
Inside each bioreactor, Coskata's proprietary microorganisms are able to simultaneously convert both CO and H2. Other biology-based processes that use suspended cultures typically struggle with phage (bacterial virus) infections, requiring a complete shut down of the fermentor to purge the system. Coskata has mitigated this susceptibility with our patent pending designs.
Cost Savings
Coskata bioreactors operate at lower pressure and lower temperatures, delivering a cost and energy advantage over competitors using chemical catalysis to produce mixed alcohols.
The Coskata design allows for a step change in reactor performance in terms of ethanol yield (g ethanol/g syngas) and conversion rate. In all, Coskata's bioreactor reduces total commercial fermentor volume to allow one of the most cost efficient conversion processes in the industry. Coskata's unique modular facility design allows plants to scale by adding bioreactors, and not by increasing the size or complexity of the plant.
